How God Promises to Make Us a 'New Creature' in Jesus Christ

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV

Greek Word: metamorphoó - Transform

As I began to revise some writing within the frame of a textbox, I found it increasingly difficult. I needed to copy and paste some text to a new document. But as I began to do this, the format would change. It was just simpler and easier to start anew instead of copying what was previously used.

This reminds me of how God promises to make us a "new creature" in Jesus Christ.  He has no use for the former things. He even builds us up on a new foundation guaranteeing our redemption while promising an abundant life. (John 10:10, Isaiah 28:16, 1 Corinthians 3:11)

New Wineskins

Jesus explained this with the example of "new wineskins".  In Him there will be new ways without the confinement of the flesh, which also requires a new mindset. (Mark 2:22)

I believe the metamorphosis of a butterfly is a marvelous example of this.  When the transformation is complete, none of the caterpillar is left. He becomes a new creature with wings. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

When we clutch to the familiar instead of following Christ, we lose the capacity to H serve Him with power and strength. (John 3:3, Philippians 4:13)

Let us go forward from doing the former things and live the life God has set forth in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:14)
