Message of Hope for Mothers
As we prepare to celebrate moms and other women this Sunday on Mother’s Day, I would like to share a message of hope that women portray.
Here are a few examples of women who might bring you hope today:
Eve (Genesis 3) is likely the first that comes to mind with her bite of forbidden fruit, and she is among some other notorious sinners such as Tamar (Genesis 38) who felt abandoned and took matters into her own hands, or maybe Rahab (Joshua 2) who never seems to be able to shake her title of prostitute.
Maybe you remember Ruth who was from a people that God told Israel not to even allow in their assembly (Deuteronomy 23; Ruth 1).
Perhaps you identify with Bathsheba and have experienced great loss or tragic hurt (2 Samuel 11). Are you feeling hopeful yet? No? Keep reading!
Where There Is Life, There Is Hope
God planted a message of hope in Eve and has carried it out through women and it lives on even today. Where there is life, there is hope. Eve gets her name because she would be the mother of all who live, and she was not given this name until after the fall? (Genesis 3)
Life will go on! Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one comes to the Father except through Me.” Jesus is the promised offspring of Eve that would crush the head of the serpent. He offers life to all who believe (John 11:25-26).
If Eve doesn’t provide enough of a backdrop for you, there is another place to see all those other ladies in scripture. Check out Matthew 1, the genealogy of Jesus. Hope triumphs! Ladies, hope lives on through Christ in you! Share that news today!
