Easter: The Resurrection of Christ Is Our Assurance

Hello Church Family,

Resurrection Sunday is quickly approaching. Personally, it’s my favorite Sunday of the year! A time to reflect, appreciate, and remember the atoning work of Jesus. He died on the cross so that all those who repent and put their trust in Jesus may become children of God.  As Christians, the resurrection of Jesus who defeated the grave, death, sin, suffering, and the brokenness of sin is foundational for our faith.

“But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith is in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:13-14

“The resurrection of Christ is our assurance; it is the basis for our hope; and it is the cause of our joy." (Martin Jones)

This Holy Week we remember that even when it appears death had won on Friday, we  remember Sunday is coming! Jesus our King will reign victorious. The resurrection of Jesus proves that our God is truly sovereign over all. He is a God who would quite literally die for his people.\

I invite you to New Hope this Sunday as we celebrate the hope found in Jesus’ resurrection and experience the transformative power of Jesus. I encourage you to invite your friends, neighbors, family members, and anyone you encounter.

I can’t wait to see God move as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus!

In love,

~Pastor Sidney Johnson
